This article is about the easter eggs in Just Cause 3. See Easter Eggs in Just Cause and Just Cause 2 for previous easter eggs.

Roland Lesterlin about easter eggs (August, 2015):

"So you know, you work on a game for so long, you have to have those days of joy. In fact, a little while ago we said to the whole team: "Like hey guys, whatever you wanna put in the game and hide, you can do it." And so we'd spend some days developing all sorts of crazy stuff that's gonna be in there cause we have so much fun making this game and hopefully that comes through in how the game works and feels. It's hard to say "no". It's really quite hard to say "no", I mean they are so funny and it makes you quite happy just to allow all that exuberance and enthusiasm in developing the game to get in there and we hope the fans like it too."

Mario is Roland[]

Mario Frigo closely resembles Roland Lesterlin, a high-ranking member of Avalanche Studios.

License plates[]

Some vehicle license plates are "4VAL NCH", which refers to Avalanche Studios. Any car/bus/truck can have it.

There are also other license plates that may reference developers' names. One reads "THAN BRY" referencing one of the game's producers: Nathaniel "Than" Bryan.

Teleportation / wormhole portals[]

There are round flat platforms and a few big buttons at multiple locations. The platform looks the same as the top of the missile silo at Cima Leon: Silo. Pressing the buttons in the right order causes the silo/platform to open and reveal a round vertical shaft roughly 210 meters deep, with wide rings of metal and red/blue energy emanating from the rings. Entering it will teleport Rico. It's possible to enter with a vehicle, but only Rico will emerge at the other end. Vehicles called in by Rebel drop or otherwise forced into any teleport silo without Rico inside will simply hit the bottom and explode.

Each location has 4 buttons for code entry and a large series of numbers painted on the concrete. Adding 1 to each of the digits provides the code to teleport there.

It's revealed in the Mech Land Assault (DLC) that this technology was created by the eDEN Corporation and abandoned when the company went bankrupt.

Salirosan Skramp and Doge Mode[]

Main article: Salirosan Skramp.

At Soliana there is a junkyard. At the junkyard (exact location in the junkyard may differ) is a small black puppy. The dog emits a small amount of black smoke, has flies above it and makes the sad dog noise. It will follow you if you stay close to it.

You will need to slowly bring the dog to the dog house on the other side of the road. Doing this puts a small notification on screen that says "You've discovered the elusive Salirosan Skramp. Doge Mode unlocked."

Doge mode is extremely useful for telling when an enemy is dead as memes only appear when an NPC takes damage or something blows up. NPCs can't take damage when they're dead, providing a makeshift health bar.

The dog will spawn back at the dump if the player should return, but the notification will not be triggered again.

Activate "Doge" mode through the options menu and in gameplay settings.

Salirosa is one of the fictional island nations in the Just Cause Universe.

Crashed Mile High Club[]

Main article: Mile High Club.

At N 40 49.050 E 5 36.775, northern coast of Maestrale, near the two islands is a wreck of the Mile High Club. Most of the wreck is under water. The rear bar area is on a beach. There are posters of DJ Santosi (another easter egg, see below) on a wall there, placed on top of vandalized posters of Di Ravello.

This might be unrelated, but there is an unique ridable cow nearby.

Mr. Snowman returns[]

At N 40 45.640 E 5 45.885 you can find Mr. Snowman. Near him is an unmarked vintage part.

When approaching him, Rico says "So we meet again, Mr. Snowman." This is a reference to when he encountered the same snow man in Just Cause 2 at the Gunung Hotel Ski Resort.

The snowman returns again in Easter Eggs in Just Cause 4.

Nerdcubed[]

Nerd³_Plays..._Just_Cause_3

Nerd³ Plays... Just Cause 3

At N 40 44.230 E 5 38.425 is the Nerdcubed logo on a wall. Nerdcubed was the first to make a pre-release gameplay video. The front of the building has a Just Jeans store and a jewelry store (Damianji).

Rubber Ducky[]

Main article: Rubber Ducky.

At N 40 46.345 E 5 42.800 and N 40 44.695 E 5 44.315 Look at the Map and find the Val de Mar province at Insula Striate. Go to the north-east corner of the middle lake there. Two "Rubber Ducky" jet skis are on dry land, slightly covered by trees. Grapple one to the water to use it. Unfortunately it can not be added to the Rebel drop garage.

Rideable cows[]

There are some special cows that Rico can ride. Cows don't appreciate this, so it's possible that he can fall off. They are distinguishable from other cows by their blue horns.

  • One is near some other cows in a field in Prima at roughly N 40 44.450 E 42.235.
  • Another is near the crashed Mile High Club, at N 40 49.045 E 5 36.715.
  • At Corda Dracon on the west side of Capite Est, at N 40 43.940 E 5 36.595.

DK Pistol and helium heads[]

Main article: DK Pistol.

Just_Cause_3_-_Helium_Heads

Just Cause 3 - Helium Heads

Go to the town of Vico Platessa in the Trio province. There are buildings that line the ground under the mountain. You will find the DK pistol behind a small building, along the cliff's bottom, on top of rubble. On top of the rubble is a weapon spawn point for the DK Pistol. See the gallery below for the exact location.

Picking it up will make Rico's head large. The pistol has unlimited ammunition and it causes no damage. It makes the target persons head large, like Rico's. If you Grapple a person with a large head and send them flying, they'll fly very high (hence helium head). People who are double grappled will continue to float on the cable. They can even lift a car, if more than one person like that are grappled to the same car. It's at N 40 42.600 E 5 35.095.

Mjölnir[]

Go to the coordinates N 40 48.565 E 5 40.860. There should be a large crater in a mountain. In the middle of it is Mjölnir, the legendary hammer of the Norse god Thor. It is not possible to move it. West of the hammer, a Di Ravello tape can be found.

Judging by the size of the crater, this was one of the largest explosions.

Bolo Santosi[]

"Bolo's Originale Banana Congelata"[]

A banana stand found in Citate Di Ravello at N 40 44.144 E 5 38.489. The stand is a small kiosk with a woman inside it. There's advertisements on it, saying that it's under new management, that it's going to open soon and that it's reopened for business. At the moment it's closed for reasons unknown, but when it's open it accepts cash only.

The name is reference to Bolo Santosi.

If the kiosk is destroyed, a large amount of paper money will be sent into the air by the explosion - a reference to the "Arrested Development" episode "Top Banana", more specifically, the line "There's always money in the banana stand!"

DJ Santosi[]

There are posters spread out across various location of Medici, advertising her as a DJ. According to the poster: "Tickets: 100 Ricoin, Beer: 450 Ricoin, Shots: 200 Ricoin".

  • At Alba, near the road at the town square.
  • At Alba, on a wall just north of the gas station.
  • At the Mile High Club wreck.
  • At Colle Salrosa, behind the gas station.
  • At Colle Salrosa next to a store that is next to the gas station. The wall is facing a parking lot.
  • At Colle Salrosa near the Di Ravello statue.

The advertised party with DJ Bolo Santosi is in Lacos, south of Alba, along with a number of party goers and a bizarre dancing man in a green morph suit. Coordinates: N 40 40.390 E 5 43.565. The place is abandoned during the day, so it's advised to visit at night. She plays the music "Iste Nocte Non Finira", but with out the song. The version with the song can reportedly be heard at some houses.

The bizarre dancing man in a green morph suit is also an Easter egg to the TV show "It's always sunny in Philadelphia."

The same music with a song[]

It can be heard on a roof at Rondella. Someone is playing it on their radio. It can be heard with and with out the song, so you may have to wait until it runs out and begins again.

See the videos section at the bottom of the article to listen to it.

The Rocket[]

Main article: The Rocket.

There's a small car called The Rocket, also known as the Soap Box Car. You can find this car at this coordinates: N 40 49.190 E 5 40.640 (at the beginning of the road).

Mario Frigo can also been found driving the rocket down the hill at N 40 48.040 E 5 42.045. You will see him at the exit of the tunnel waiting to race you. If you're driving a vehicle he will attempt to race you down the hill. This appears to be a reference to the Mario Kart series. There is also another Rocket car which you can drive.

Memorials[]

There are several memorials in the game. It's unknown who they were, but they were obviously important to the game developers.

Hyeng Woo Shim memorial[]

There is a memorial panel on a stone in south of Babica, Feno province at N 40 42.573 E 5 42.887.

Text on the panel says:
"Beloved Son, Brother, Friend
See You In The Next Dimension
Hyeng Woo Shim
April 10, 1977 To November 12, 1993
"

The person died at the age of 16, so it may have been a game developer's child.

According to this thread, the Director of Human Resources and Operations at Avalanche Studios from 2012-2016 was a person named Ju Shim. It could be that he/she had a child who died at age 16. However, this is unconfirmed.

Tae 'Jina' Stevenson memorial[]

N 40 37.610 E 5 40.465

Text on the panel says:
"She was a bright flame
That burned too fast,
The unyielding ground
For our legacy of love.
Tae 'Jina' Stevenson
Jan. 6, 1959 to Sept. 30, 2013
"

Jose Antonio Espinal Lugo memorial[]

N 40 43.290 E 5 34.915. This is at a religious building called Sancte Antonio, located at Perla Est.

Text on the panel says:
"Hombres Como Tu Nunca Mueren
Jose Antonio Espinal Lugo
Nov 20, 1946 To Mar 11, 2015
"

Translation "Men Like You Never Die".

Jim "O'hara" Cross memorial[]

At a small private house on one of the small islands south of Citate Di Ravello. There's lots of potted flowers around the house and a Pescespada SS speedboat at a dock.

Text on the panel says:
"In loving memory
Jim "O'hara" Cross
Oct 9, 1953 - Mar 3, 2015
To the world, he was one.
To us, he was the world.
"

Buster Sword from Final Fantasy 7[]

A black sword (Buster Sword) from Final Fantasy 7 can be seen half way inside a mountain at N 40 48.277 - E 5 43.363.

Pogo stick[]

There's a pogo stick on top of a building in Citate Di Ravello. The spawn point is reported to move a little. It's at roughly N 40 44.319 - E 5 38.714.

Panau Sonic[]

  • Near the starting point of Of Cows and Wine, at N 40 41.835 E 5 44.005, is a large stereo named "Panau Sonic 4 Speak", which refers to Panasonic as well as Panau. It can be activated and will play the Mile High Club theme from Just Cause 2.
  • DJ Santosi's (see above) music control panel is also made by Panau Sonic.
  • There is a house across the road from the entrance to Vigilator Nord. There is a shed with the boombox behind it, out of view.

Hijacked Propaganda van plays Mile High Club music[]

When you hijack a Propaganda van, it will play the Mile High Club theme from Just Cause 2. Propaganda vans can be found in most villages/cities that are not liberated yet.

Smoke Monster from Lost/Hantu Island[]

At N 40 48.085 - E 5 34.910, if you stand on the beach and look towards the lake, eventually you will hear a sound. If you turn around you will see the smoke monster kill 3 people and flee. At the site there is an arrow made out of logs that points to the word 'run' made out of wooden planks on the ground. It is possible for the smoke monster to kill you if you get to close.

There's also a smoke monster on Hantu Island in Just Cause 2.

Landfill[]

At the Maestrale province car race (N 40 47.675 - E 5 35.555) you can find a landfill. There's an abandoned guard post at the gate and a sign that says "Landfill *** Dumping ground for anti-Medician culture". Using explosives on the landfill will reveal hundreds of Just Cause and Just Cause 2 retail copies. Other items there are broken cardboard boxes and empty beverage bottles.

The consoles that Just Cause 2 are on are "TV PLAY 32". The Just Cause boxes are marked for "GAMEPLAYER" consoles and a copy of the PC version of JC1 in the landfill.

This is a reference to when Atari buried their E.T. video game cartridges in New Mexico because of poor sales.

The Dress[]

At N 40 44.230 E 5 38.645 are two women standing on a balcony wearing a white/gold and black/blue dress. They're on the ends of the highest balcony of the hotel that's directly south of the skyscraper with the crane. This is a reference to "The Dress" which has been a viral photo on the internet for some time.

Moving statues / weeping angels[]

At N 40 47.925 E 5 40.775, very close to the most western corner of Falco, there are some ruins and a few statues standing in a circle around a dead goat. The statues can not be moved using the Grappler and mocking them has no effect. If you go near the goat, the statues will suddenly jump forward, closer to you. They only jump if they're off screen, so they don't necessarily all move at the same time.

This is believed to be a reference to the Weeping Angels from Doctor Who. These are some type of aliens who look like statues with wings. They only attack when looked away from.

Batman[]

Random civilians may say "He is some sort of Man-Bat!" (reference to Batman) if Rico uses a parachute or Wingsuit near them.

Bonfire[]

At N 40 41.215 - E 5 35.025 you can find a Bonfire which is a reference to Dark Souls. Instead of a sword, there is a sniper rifle. It is possible to light the Bonfire by pressing the action key while facing it. However, using the bonfire will not restore Rico's health.

Air Sheldon[]

In the mission Bavarium on a Plane, Tom Sheldon speaks two of his lines from Just Cause 2: "Ah hell, who am I trying to fool?" and later "And thanks for flyin' Air Sheldon! Hehe!". This is a Black Market quote after the mission The White Tiger.

Football fields[]

  • The town of Perla Est has two usable football fields, each with two usable balls.
  • There's one more football field at the western edge of the Citate Di Ravello old town, but despite having a football it has not been used for a long time. There's bushes growing there and the government has set up a destructable projector right on the field.
  • Another few goal frames and a usable ball is near the projector at Nacre, but there's no painted field.
  • The town of Burgoletto has a marked field and a usable ball, but the goal frames have been moved.

Mime cult meeting[]

In the Prima province, just north-west of the Sancte Federico building, N 40 44.040 E 5 42.100, is a collectable item. In view of the item are 4 to 6 Civilians who ignore Rico and who are each performing different hand signals / mime art.

Using weapons, or parachuting near them will make them react like normal civilians.

"The Little General" weapon[]

Main article: The Little General.

After completing all missions, at N 40 51.175; E 5 27.490, the remains of the golden Urga Mstitel can be found that the player destroys in the last mission. In front of it lies the generals weapon, a usable revolver called "The little general".

Note those coordinates are the only place where you can get these pistols.

Crashed Golden Urga Mstitel[]

At N 40 48.855 E 5 41.575, north of Falco Maxime: Centcom, there is a crashed Golden Urga Mstitel. Unlike the one on Volcano Island, this crash site can be visited at any time in the game progression.

CS Powerrun 77 wreck with gushing water[]

A rusty, wrecked CS Powerrun 77 in a small pool of water at N 40 41.215; E 5 35.025. When pulled onto land using the Grappler and when near to the ocean, it makes gushing water come out of it.

Strange winching machines and Merry-go-round[]

Look for a merry-go-round / carousel (rotatable children's playground object). The machine is connected to the underside of the carousel. Both objects can separately rotate around the same axis if touched. The machine is an electrically powered winch. The machine can be activated when approached, making the pars of the machine spin in opposite directions.

There's two of these machines:

  • At the Citate Di Ravello football field, at the western edge of the old town near N 40 44.155 E 5 38.290.
  • Another one of these is at the farm just east of Porto Coclea. The car Race "mountain pass sprint" ends at this location.

There's several more of these same winching machines, but the others are stationary objects and are not connected to any playground items.

Tunnels at eastern Insula Striate[]

Main article: Tunnels at eastern Insula Striate.

At N 40 45.905 E 5 45.890 there is an entrance to a complex set of partially submerged underground tunnels. There are several paths that can be taken in the tunnels, though they eventually converge at one point: The inlet above the canyon.

It's advised to use a Stria PW 220 R-GT there.

Mr. Snowman (another easter egg, see above) is also very close to this place.

Luigi[]

There's a Mario in the game and as it turns out, there's also a "Luigi". One civilian looks very similar to the Nintendo character (other than the lack of a mustache and differently colored sleeves). There's also billboards in Citate Di Ravello for "Luigi Pizza".

Coincidentally, in the "Mario Kart Tour" mobile game from Nintendo, there is an outfit of Luigi called "Chef Luigi." However, it is highly unlikely that was inspired from this.

Just Claws store[]

The town of Nacre at Libeccio province has a small store near its south-east corner, called "Just Claws". The store name is colored just like the Just Cause 2 logo with a small black crab instead of the 2. The store is near the dock, so it's likely a fish and crab store.

Just Jeans store[]

Citate Di Ravello has several clothing stores called "Jazombie & Fitz", which have an advertisement on one of the windows for "Just Jeans".

Examples of these stores are at about:

  • N 40 44.630 E 5 39.460. The back of this building has the N3 logo graffiti.
  • N 40 44.645 E 5 39.560. This store is near a Banco de Medici office and a Scorp Avaranch clothing store.

Scorp Avaranch clothing store[]

At Citate Di Ravello (N 40 44.645 E 5 39.560). Next to it are a Banco de Medici office and a Just Jeans store.

Cast Away[]

At the north-west corner of the map on the Volcano island in Medici there is a man sitting at a table on the beach wearing only swimming trunks. There is lots of debris scattered around the shoreline. This is a reference to the film "Cast Away". He can be found at coordinates N 40 52.980 E 5 25.605.

Just like normal civilians he occasionally holds his hand near his ear and talks to imaginary friends (the phone doesn't seem to spawn here).

His Inflatable liferaft is actually controllable. Rico has to jump into it and run into the direction you want to go. The boat will move at walking pace.

Tuk-Tuk Boom Boom[]

Dimahs office/lab at Cava de Rebelles has a blueprint of the Tuk-Tuk Boom Boom from Just Cause 2.

Timecar[]

One of the Crash bomb events provides a Mugello Quipozza F, which when equipped with the bomb, resembles the DeLorean DMC-12 "Timecar" from the "Back to the Future" franchise. The vehicle bomb in the "crash bomb" event might even have been specifically designed for this easter egg.

[]

Go to the town Vico Spigola at Insula Dracon. There's a table with two chairs where Rebellion members may be playing cards. The back sides of the cards have the chaos scorpion on them.

The Simpsons related locations[]

Board a Train and look at the in-game map. You will see three locations in the ocean named after locations in The Simpsons. The map markers will disappear as soon as you leave the train, so you should place a map marker before leaving the train.

According to User:MrFunreal they only appear while the hacking timer is still on screen, but User:GMRE saw them on the map after hacking and while not even being on a missile car. User:Anonymous230385 has seen them when accessing the Rebel drop map on any of the train cars.

As of 2022 (possibly earlier) it seems the locations appear on any train car when Rico opens the map. This indicates that this game feature is one that was likely simplified in some small patch. Some unannounced patch(es) has made minor changes to the game. See Just Cause 3 Patch history.

They each have a rocket launcher, an Urga Racek, and a large underwater pedestal that goes all the way to the bottom of the sea, which is too deep to dive to.

The items are there any time, but the icons with Simpsons location names will only be visible when on a train.

The Mech Land Assault DLC adds Insula Lacrima to where North Haverbrook used to be and moves the icon east to about N 40 52.480 E 5 40.850. There is nothing at that location.

Inflatable liferafts[]

Main article: Inflatable liferaft.

They're connected in pairs to a large rusty steel frame. If one of the white raft containers should be Grappled to the ground, it will explode open and an orange inflatable rubber raft will pop out. The rafts are designed to hold up to 6 people and they can be used as a boat, if the player jumps on and runs into the desired direction.

They're at many coastal settlements.

  • Many at Grotta Contrabandero.
  • At a few coastal towns.
  • At a dock in the Litore Torto lake.
  • At the crashed Mile High Club.
  • One deployed raft is at the stranded guy at the north-west corner of the map.

Blue Screen of Death[]

On the eDEN Airship, there are destructible computer consoles that have the BSOD on the screen. It does make fun of Apple in some parts.

Weird lights out at sea[]

See the forum thread for the original report and discussion: Thread:24654.

If you go just north-west of Insula Striate, to the area of the off-shore rigs, at night, you'll see several large clusters of floating lights. Each cluster is at least the size of an off-shore rig. They were speculated to be a part of the Bavarium Sea Heist DLC. After the Mech Land Assault DLC came out, these weird lights were revealed to be facilities on Insula Lacrima, the new region in the new DLC.

After later patches another large set of lights was found west of Guardia Libeccio I. These belong to the Stingray Area of the Bavarium Sea Heist.

Opera music[]

See the forum thread for the original report and discussion: Thread:25714.

There's a couple of buildings in the old town of Citate Di Ravello that emit opera music from their top floor. The music is pretty quiet, so you may have to turn the volume up. A woman also sings to the music, but so far nobody has managed to determine what it's about, or even what language it's in.

One of the roofs should be at about N 40 44.150 E 5 38.370. See a picture of the exact roof in the gallery below.

Golden Urga Mstitel[]

The Golden Urga Mstitel is a rare vehicle, normally only seen in action during Son of Medici and is made available at Rebel drop after collecting all Di Ravello tapes.

Two wrecks of it can be found, one after Son of Medici, the other anytime.

See the gallery below for the one that can be found from game start.

Motorcycle race[]

At about N 40 46.550 E 5 35.710, a bike race can be found with NPCs. Rico can race alongside them or watch them, similar to a Roadside Event, except this one is a rather large one.

The above co-ordinates are inaccurate. Here's a video of it.

Scorpion Whisky[]

On the title screen the bottle of whisky next to Rico has a scorpion on the label. The scorpion is the symbol of Chaos and used to be one of the symbols of the Just Cause game series.

Campsite on fire[]

At N 40 45.225 E 5 42.290 there is a campsite that has apparently caught fire.

Location is North-East of Guardia Val de Mar III

Some Easter Eggs found by analyzing game files[]

This list does not include the DLCs and the information was taken from only to 71% decompiled code, meaning there is (likely) still information missing.

Located in "locations/world_locations/easter_egg_majestic_3":

  • "29x41_easter_egg" - Probably a part of the teleportation system.
  • "52x41_easter_egg" - Probably a part of the teleportation system.
  • "54x29_easter_egg" - Probably a part of the teleportation system.
  • "easter_egg_timetravel_tube", "easter_egg_timetravel_tube_region2" and "easter_egg_timetravel_tube_region3" - Part of the teleportation system.
  • "easter_egg_majestic3_teleport_to_region_1", "easter_egg_majestic3_teleport_to_2" and "easter_egg_majestic3_teleport_to_3" - Part of the teleportation system.
  • "45x20_who_easter_egg_landmark" in "models/landmarks/world_locations/45x20/45x20_who_easter_egg" - Probably the "weeping angels" temple ruins.

Located in "locations/region_03/easter_eggs":

Located in "locations/region_03/collectibles":

  • "egg_obelisk" - Judging from the fact that it says obelisk and not obelisks, it is likely that there is only one obelisk at Insula Striate (region_03). See Ancient Medici and myths for more about the obelisks.

Diving Board at Grotta Contrabandero[]

There is a diving board at Grotta Contrabandero, located at the top of the stairs that lead from the dock to the airport. The board is located at the edge of a steep cliff, but strangely nobody could safely jump from there, because it's too far from the beach. The only ways to survive it are with the Parachute, or the Wingsuit.

Citispeed Eco 75 speed[]

According to the Rebel drop description, the Citispeed Eco 75 "performs best when kept over 80 km/h". This is a reference to the 1994 action movie "Speed" where a bus had to be kept above 50mph (about 80 km/h) to prevent the explosion of an onboard bomb.

SpongeBob[]

If you get a Urga U17 Akrobat in the colors of yellow and cyan, there is a chance that the registration number on the plane may read HOI-MXI-OY. This is a reference to season 2 episode 14 of the show SpongeBob Square Pants. "Hoi minoy" is the catch phrase of DoodleBob.

Ride of the Valkyries[]

The "Ride of the Valkyries" easter egg from Just Cause 2 is back, where on rare occasions Rico will sing the tune of the song by going "Da da da daaa daaaaa. Da da da daaa daaaaa. Da da da daaa daaaaa. Da da da daaaaaaaaaaaa." while firing weaponry from a helicopter. It references the helicopter scene from the 1979 film Apocalypse Now.

The easter egg again returns in Just Cause 4,but this time Rico will hum as opposed to singing. (see: Easter Eggs in Just Cause 4).

Random hay bales and bench on a hill[]

Mountain prop set

At N 40 46.045 E 5 45.155 there is a set of random props on a hill including a wall, three hay bales, a bench and a lamp pole in northern Costa Sud, seemingly in the middle of nowhere. It has been described as similar in appearance to an alternate starting position for Rico when the game is loaded, however Rico has not been reported to interact with the location whatsoever. The location is mostly inaccessible by vehicle due to its position.

The purpose of the location is unknown, however it is possible to be a reference to something.

Whaleshark name[]

All the Whaleshark fishing ships have the recurring name "Trencho del Vita". In some sort of "interlingua", it means "slice of life". This might be an easter egg to the US television series "Dexter", in which the protagonist, a serial killer, owns a fishing boat called "Slice of Life", which he uses to dump the bodies of his victims into the ocean.

Ordina Hodie[]

There's a computer screen at Falco Maxime: Centcom that shows a woman with a label on screen that says "Ordina Hodie". Occasionally she drinks something.

"Ordina Hodie" is reported to mean something like "usual day" in some language.

Tree face[]

There's a tree at Val de Mar, at about N 40 45.975; E 5 42.190, which has a face on it. It looks to be a man at least in his 50s. It is unknown what it is meant to reference, but it looks weird.

Piñata party[]

A bunch of people in woods near Sancte Federico church in Prima province apparently have a lot of pinatas. This can be found at approximately N 40 44.035 E 5 42.100.

Dialogue[]

Medici Military shotgunners might say "Meet my boomstick!". This is a reference to the 1992 movie "Army of Darkness".

Rico Rodriguez might say "Mmm, stick around." when he retracts a tether on an enemy. This line is an easter egg to the 1987 film Predator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

When killing D.R.M./Medici Military/Black Hand enemies, Rico may say the line "'Whatcha 'gonna do? 'Whatcha 'gonna do when I come for you?" from the song Bad Boys, the theme of the TV show "Cops". Alternatively, some people have reported not hearing the question and instead hearing the line "Bad boys, bad boys", which is also from the same song. Breaking the song into different fragments would be a way to avoid copyright issues with this easter egg.

There is also a chance that you'll hear Black Hand soldiers in conversations saying these 2 quotes from stormtroopers (characters from Star Wars):

  • "You know what's going on? I guess another drill."
  • "Have you heard about the new TZ13?, Yeah some guy was telling me about it and they say its... quite a thing to see!!"

U-24 Zabijak reload[]

Rico reloads the U-24 Zabijak dual wielded shotguns in a similar method to the terminator (Arnold's character) in the 1991 movie "Terminator 2: Judgement Day". The reload might also be referencing Stage Coach, The Rifleman and/or True Grit.

M+C and a wooden barrel[]

At N 40 43.830, E 5 44.720, at Costa Sud, there's a fallen tree with "M+C" carved into it. The writing is surrounded by a heart-shaped line. Near this fallen tree is a wooden barrel and a pile of garbage.

Sometimes lovers will carve their initials (or one initial) into something solid, signifying their seemingly undying love. Sometimes this isn't always the case.

T-Mobile[]

After Destroying a SATCOM Dish, there is a chance that Rico will say: "Can you hear me now, Ahhhh."

The Soup Nazi[]

If you destroy a distillation tower, core electrical unit, transformer, or generator. One of the things Rico might say is "No juice for you!". This could be a reference to the "Soup Nazi" in season 7 episode 6 of the TV show "Seinfeld", where the character famously stated: "No soup for you!"

Volcano island in Medici easter eggs[]

Rebel and soldier on the volcano island[]

On the Volcano island in Medici, there is a small rebel lean-to. A rebel is repairing an Urga Szturm 63A and a Medician soldier is standing on the other side of the car. If the soldier is pushed into view of the rebel, the rebel will kill him. It is located at N 40 51.215 E 5 28.175.

After completing all the missions the soldier does not appear, instead a rebel is just standing next to a rebel vehicle. If the rebel is killed however and the player returns to that spot later on, an army soldier is standing next to the corpse. Repeating this leads to a scenario similar to not having completed all missions.

Moving the Urga Szturm 63A will result in a Medici Military Weimaraner W3 spawning to take its place.

Skull Island[]

At approximately N 40 51.635 - E 5 25.900 there is a huge skull carved into the mountains of the unnamed island in the top left corner of the map. It is not known if this may be a reference to Skull Island from King Kong, to Skull Cave from the comic "The Phantom," to Skull Rock from Peter Pan, or to Pulau Berapi which has a skull in the center.

Cast Away[]

A stranded man, wearing only underwear and being near an Inflatable liferaft, is on a small island at the north-west corner of the map. This is possibly a reference to the movie Cast Away.

Opening screen[]

The chair and beach umbrella that Rico sits on when the game is started can be found at N 40 51.125 E 5 29.925. You will spawn here once when starting the game after finishing the Son of Medici mission. A Stria Ghibli 3 also spawns here. You can knock over (and subsequently fix) the umbrella. The chair can not be moved.

Ozymandias sonnet[]

Find any old warehouse that has some old computers. The computers will be turned on and have orange text on screens. The text is a quote from the Ozymandias.

Dimah's tablet[]

The small tablet computer that was held by Dimah has a screenshot of Cut game content from Just Cause 3. There's a list of a few real Steam accounts and a civilian helicopter.

Mech Land Assault easter eggs[]

Black Hand vehicle markings from JC1[]

Several vehicles, such as the U41 Ptakojester cargo plane can be seen marked as "17-2". This how many Black Hand vehicles were marked in Just Cause.

Mysterious silo near Weapons Shipment Yard[]

See the "Ancient pentagram obelisks" above.

Mysterious button at eDEN Station: The Goose[]

eDEN Station: The Goose has an interactable button at one of the eneterable buildings.

It was discovered by one of our contributors over a year after the games release that this button actually activates a second hidden button, located under ground, near the Sphere Tank. The only known way to get down there to push it is to use a glitched aircraft from the railroad to pass through the ground and then grapple to the button. Full instructions at the discovery announcement/discussion thread. Unfortunately, we still don't know what, if anything, the second button does.

Teleporting explained[]

The teleporting / wormhole easter egg (see above) is explained in the DLC as having been created by the eDEN Corporation.

TV show Lost[]

According to the in-game map, one of the old eDEN Corporation outposts had a place where test subjects had to press a button every once in a while to keep some kind of a gravity field under control. This refers to the plot of the Lost TV series where test subjects in one bunker had a similar job. Also eDEN stations are named similarly to the stations of a research group in the show.

Chaos marked beer bottles[]

At eDEN Station: The Angel, there are beer bottles on a table in one of the rooms, marked with the Chaos symbol.

Unusual destroyed drone[]

It has been reported that at a warehouse near eDEN Station: The Goose, there is a seemingly destroyed light drone that actually is still active. It has a flashing red light, but getting close to it though will make the flashing light turn into a scan-like feature and scan Rico, or something of the like.

So far, this is not known to cause any obvious change in anything.

Bavarium Sea Heist easter eggs[]

Shark in Stingray Area[]

As seen in this Youtube clip, there is a shark in the Stingray Area.

It's unknown why this shark is here, considering it still poses a threat to the Black Hand in the area, even if it's extremely minor.

Pool toys at Stingray[]

There are pool toys on a shelf at the underwater entrance to the Stingray facility.

Real names on dead scientists[]

Two of the dead scientists at the Stingray have been identified as real people. The others are likely also based on someone.

There is also an Inflatable liferaft near the "Boat Invaders" challenge with three of these dead scientists, which at a first glance, apparently resemble "zombies". Link to YouTube.

Very rusty sunken cargo ship and trapped rubber ducks[]

There's a very rusted wreck of a cargo ship at about N 40 45.745; E 5 31.500. The hull seems to have broken in half and there's several rusted, but intact shipping containers. A few meters west of the deeper end of the wreck is an open-ended container. The container has a cardboard box which can be pushed to float to the surface. Once destroyed, 8 rubber ducks pop out and Rico yells "Freedom!" The ducks have sunglasses and resemble the Rubber Ducky Jet ski.

The ducks having glasses is a reference to the Friendly Floatees.

This might be a submarine as the underwater half is like the hull of a submarine.

This was added by the Bavarium Sea Heist DLC, as there is nothing at those coordinates in the base game.

Some computers resemble Commodore 64[]

Some computer parts inside Stingray apparently resemble the 1982 computer Commodore 64. This is actually historically accurate, considering how old the Stingray base is.

Ancient pentagram obelisks[]

These appear in the full game and in the expansion packs.

See also: Ancient Medici, Thread:29834 and Thread:26925.

There's several ancient stone obelisks in Medici. Each has a white pentagram drawn on one side. There are letters written on the sides of the pentagram. It is believed that the letters are some kind of code for something, but it's unknown what they mean. See the gallery below. The symbols are identical on the island one and the Weapons Shipment Yard one. Feel free to discuss them at the forum.

Currently known obelisks:

  • At about N 40 42.790 E 5 40.740. There is a group of uninhabited islands. The obelisk is at the western tip of the most southern island.
  • At about N 40 48.150 E 5 43.870. On the eastern edge of the Montana province is a Race called "Mountain marathon tour". The obelisk is on the side of a cliff a little to the south-west of the race trigger.
  • At about N 40 52.400; E 5 37.000. In a cave at Insula Lacrima (part of the Mech Land Assault DLC). This obelisk is unique by being on top of a small pedestal and by not having any symbols carved into it.
  • The Weapons Shipment Yard port (part of the Mech Land Assault DLC) has a round closed hatch in the woods near its north-east corner (N 41 51.455 E 5 35.547). Once opened using the three buttons nearby, there is an obelisk underneath. One button is right next to the silo, but the other two can be tricky to find. One is on a little house on the cliffs behind the silo and the other is on another house in the forest to the west. This obelisk is unique for having has 5 perpetually burning small flames on the side with the pentagram. Staying near it for a while causes music to start playing.
  • Just south-east of the south-east tip of the Stingray (part of the Bavarium Sea Heist DLC) are ancient ruins. In those ruins is a set of 5 obelisks. They all have multiple small eternal fires on them, despite being under water.
