Friends Like These... is the fourth/fifth storyline mission in Just Cause 3.

Introduction[]

Mission briefing on the map: "Suffering terrible losses in the massacre at Costa Del Porto, Rico and the revolution regroup at the rebels' hidden cove in the remote province of Soros. Mario and Dimah await him, eager to formulate a new plan of attack."

Walkthrough[]

Rico learns that Tom Sheldon has cheated Mario and his Rebellion into doing him some unknown favors. Tom gave all rebels the CommLinks they've been using to communicate throughout the rebellion. Initially Mario had accepted the CommLinks under the impression that they were gifts. However, Mario had been unaware that Tom had expected unknown favors from the rebels in return. During the initial cutscene, Mario disappointingly tells Rico: "He owns us".

Rico then meets Dimah who says she needs her "Bavarium scanner" and sends him to meet her contact at Vigilator Nord.

After Rico comes out of the laboratory, Mario notices a friend of his is stuck on a nearby beach. Mario asks Rico to free his boat, adding that "He's a nice guy, fratre." After Rico gets the boat into the water, he obtains a flare, which Mario explains can take him to Manaea.

Rico is instructed to Fast Travel to Manaea. After that, the mission ends. To continue the story, Rico has to meet the contact, which will be the start of the next mission Conflicting Interests.

Trivia[]

  • This is the second mission that was revealed in pre-launch promotional materials.
  • There is a random encounter right at the end of the first cut-scene. This one is unique in that it is scripted to appear no matter what.
  • This is one of the few missions where the Medici Military is not encountered.
  • This is the only mission in the Soros province.
  • This mission is a bit strange.
    • Sheldon and Crashie are not seen here before you start the mission, so when you start the mission trigger, Sheldon, Mario, and Crashie appear out of nowhere along with a table containing a map.
    • There is a CS Predator laying on the side of the table, and there are three rebels carrying said weapon, but never in the game are rebels seen using the CS Predator.
    • The civilian that Rico helps in the random encounter seems to always use the same character model. This is unlike most random encounters, where the civilian character models are randomized.

The mission is also somewhere past the half-way point of this video:
