The Holdt R4 Pitbulls are weapons in Just Cause (1).

Description[]

They are two small silver coloured revolvers, which are always carried by Rico, even after dying. The Pitbulls are available from the start of the game.

Looking closely, they have small what appear to be tiny grenade launchers under the barrels. These do not function in the game.

They are very similar to the Smith & Wesson Model 29, presumably modified by the Agency.

Performance[]

They have infinite reserve ammunition, with 6 bullets in a cylinder, although because they are always dual wielded they behave the same way as a single pistol with a magazine of 12.

If you fire one round from one gun and not the other, you can't reload, as the reloading animation depicts both guns being reloaded. Two shots from the Pitbulls seems to be more powerful than a single shot from the next most powerful gun, the Moretti P.94.

Despite seeming to be the weakest guns in the game, they get the job done against small numbers of enemies (at low heat and the infinite ammunition is also very convenient.

Trivia[]

  • Although not particularly powerful, the Pitbulls make good weapons in an emergency (out of other ammunition), or for providing suppressive fire.
  • They're replaced in Just Cause 2 by "Rico's Signature Gun", which is larger and more powerful. The under-barrel grenade launcher is still purely cosmetic and does not actually fire.
