Pelantar Minyak Gerudi Besar is an offshore rig in Just Cause 2.

LocationEdit

West of the Lautan Lama Desert, at X:790; Y:22480. It's the most western rig in Panau.

DescriptionEdit

Do not try to complete this rig before the mission "Black Gold". This will make the mission uncompletable.

The rig is identical to all other offshore rigs in the country and it would have the same importance to complete it, but some things are different.

The first two words in the name are not the same as other offshore rigs. Other rigs start with "Pelantar Gas". It seems like the rig is for oil, not for natural gas and that would explain the name "Pelantar Minyak" which means oil rig in Malaysian. Unlike other offshore rigs, this one will stay a restricted area even after you have completed it. It's also the only rig featured in a mission. The full name means "Large Oil Drilling Platform" in Malaysian.

Nothing is known about the oil production at this rig, but when rigs of this size can produce more than 140 000 barrels a day, then it's a suspect that this rig produces that much. It stands for at least 80% of the total oil production in Panau. Still, the production is too small to serve the country, and the government imports much oil from Brunei.

HistoryEdit

After the found of the Panau Barat Oil and Gas Fields, the government did some drilling tests before erecting the two rigs at the place.
