The Urga Mstitel is a helicopter in Just Cause 3.

Appearance[]

It is a modern attack helicopter with a long tail and narrow front windows. Its overall shape resembles the real life Kamov Ka-50, Ka-52 and Sikorsky S-97 Raider attack helicopters, but without the coaxial rotor, a different cockpit and a different tail rudder (lower side instead of upper side in the Ka-50). It also a bit resembles the EADS Sharc UAV, but the Mstitiel is way bigger. It has an odd colour scheme that suggests a semi futuristic theme.

The helicopter appears in three different paint schemes: a brown (greyish) Medici Military type, a blue Rebellion version, and a golden color. However, this golden version will still have the Medician flag on it.

The rebel drop description for the rebel variant states: "The intimidating URGA Mstitel is equipped with four precision rocket launchers and a heavy machine gun. Soldiers scatter when this monster arrives at a skirmish."

The rebel drop description for the golden variant states: "Manufactured for Sebastiano Di Ravello's personal use, this fearsome chopper boasts four precision rocket launchers, a machine gun, and Bavarium shield technology."

The end of the tail has big vents on it, which in combination with the lack of a tail rotor, mean that this helicopter is of the NOTAR type.

Unlike the other Medici Military helicopters, this one only comes in the MAF07 numbering scheme. The same applies for the golden variant of this vehicle.

Performance[]

The Urga Mstitel is unusually agile for its size, having speed and handling topping most other helicopters. Its top speed in consistent horizontal flight is about 356 km/h with the correct Gear Mods and can exceed 500 km/h in when steeply descending and accelerating. This makes it the fastest helicopter in JC3.

Inexperienced pilots are not advised to fly it in an aerial challenge, or in a tunnel, as its sensitivity can easily lead to a catastrophe.

In terms of endurance, it can be compared to the Urga Hrom D, able to survive one "standard explosion" and the second destroys it. The helicopter also comes with a Bavarium shield with a 15 second duration and 5.5 second cooldown, the key to survival in any firefight as it can easily block off all ballistic weapons. Further supplementing its role are four rocket launchers than can be fired rapidly, and two machine guns to engage stragglers, able to easily wipe the floor clean with any enemy in the open and even take out SAMs with little risk.

Bugs and glitches[]

Main article: Just Cause 3 Bugs and glitches

PS4   Golden variants can erroneously spawn in place of their usual military counterparts. This has been confirmed at Falco Maxime: Centcom, and also reportedly at the offshore rigs.

PS4   Upon leaving the helicopter, Rico might spawn on the left stub wing and can be hit by the rotor blades.

All Platforms   When entering this vehicle while holding the Urga Vdova 89, said weapon's reticle will erroneously remain in place of the vehicle's own, which can throw off aim when firing the helicopter's mounted weapons. Interestingly, it turns red with a cross in the middle, when you can hit something with you machine guns or rockets, like it would work on the ground. Exiting the vehicle and holstering the Urga Vdova 89 before re-entering it rectifies this glitch.

This glitch seems to be less common for the PS4 version.

 Xbox One

It has been reported that after collecting all 71 Di Ravello tapes, the golden variant of this vehicle does not unlock in Rebel drop when it should. At this time, there is no known fix.

PC   The military variants at the offshore rigs do not spawn correctly.

Trivia[]

  • This helicopter is made by the fictional company Urga.
  • "Mstitel" (мститель) is Russian and Czech for "Avenger".
    • Although unrelated, there is a 1959 Czechoslovakian film called Mstitel.
  • This helicopter was originally one of only two vehicles in the game with a Bavarium shield, the other being the Imperator Bavarium Tank. A third vehicle (with multiple variants), the Mech, was added by the Mech Land Assault DLC.
    • A shielded Urga Hrom D is used as a placeholder of Di Ravello's helicopter, listed in the game file as "boss_heli_prototype". Di Ravello's current helicopter is a separate variant with homing missiles but is otherwise identical to the normal Golden variant. It is named "v2604_helicopter_urga_advancedassault_signature_shielded_di_ravello" and only obtainable with mods.
  • The Rebel drop menu lists the Golden Urga Mstitel as a separate vehicle with a different description and unlock requirement.
  • With a very unusual design, it is the successor to the Delta MAH-15 Chimaera from Just Cause and the AH-33 Topachula from Just Cause 2, as all of them are heavy attack helicopters that are somewhat narrow with non-conventional rotor layouts.
  • The helicopter was first seen in promotional images that lead some people to think that the tail rudder is damaged, while in the game, it's what the tail rudder normally looks like. Even the Bavarium shield outlines seen on the image (see below) make one think that the same tail was complete with upper and lower rudders on the tail boom. The shield shape was corrected before game launch. A part of the shield over the tail had an upper area that looked like it was meant to protect a non-existent upper rudder and the shield area that protects the rocket launchers was misplaced, leaving the inner sets with no shield at all.
  • Rebellion Urga Mstitels retain the red stripe on the cockpit, as with all others, despite having a yellow one on the unlock screen, possibly cut during development. See the "Miscellaneous" section of the gallery below.
  • Even though the rotor blade tips on the Rebellion variant appear yellow when stationary, they turn to red once they begin spinning.
  • This is the first and only helicopter with retractable landing gear in the series. The landing gear will retract while you are moving slowly above land. If you try to land quickly before it gets a chance to expand, the helicopter will likely explode from the force of the collision.
  • The icons for its mounted weapons are strangely inconsistent with those of other armed vehicles.
    • The missile launcher's model is identical to the heavy missiles on the CS Navajo, but are simply named "Rockets" and deal much lower damage, being comparable to a "standard" explosion. In terms of icon and behavior, they seem to be identical to Urga Hrom D's "Missiles".
    • The icon for the "Machine Gun" is shared with the Urga Vulkan, as well as the "Minigun" on Urga Hrom D/Urga Postolka, while firing rounds similar to that of Carmen Albatross' six machine guns. Strangely, the Mstitel's machine guns have three barrels each, as opposed to the aforementioned rotary gun equivalents, which have six each.
      • The top of one gun contains the markings "U.R.G.A VULKAN - CAL 7.62". This accurately reflects the standalone Urga Vulkan's caliber, but the Mstitel's Machine Guns instead resemble the M197, a rotary cannon chambered 20mm.
  • The Urga Mstitel could have been inspired from the final boss "Warhawk" from the game "Twisted Metal Black". It is also equipped with red windows and an energy shield.
  • The rebel and golden variant descriptions all claim it has one heavy machine gun, whereas they actually have two.
  • The original design of the helicopter looked as if it had no shield, as it had a normal cockpit and coaxial rotors. It was also painted grey without the "hex" texture on the exposed fuselage.
  • The Urga Mstitel (Rebel variant) and Loochador are the only vehicles unlocked for Rebel drop via a storyline mission.
  • As of some patch, the ones that spawn at Platteforma Litore Torto II (north-east corner of the map) and Platteforma Litore Torto I (east north-east area of the map) rarely appear on PC before liberation. When taken over, a Rebel Urga Hrom D always overrides its spawns.
  • It is not exactly known how the two Golden wrecks came to be.
